Silicon Shaman

A new choice in custom development services mercenary coding
offering new development, porting services and reimplementation.

Who Are You?
Silicon Shaman is primarily the trade name of Greg Weston, a software developer with over 25 years of experience covering more than a dozen desktop, handheld and mainframe platforms. While taking direct responsibility for systems development, I rely on a skilled network of artists and translators to ensure a high-quality UI localized to fit your needs.

What Have You Done?
I began my career in software development with the Apple II in 1980, and rapidly and routinely expanded my repertoire of platforms, languages and toolsets. I've spent the last several years professionally as a Windows developer developing real-time systems handling millions of financial transactions per day in one of the most active markets in the world. Away from my day job, I've created several system enhancements for the Apple Macintosh. These products, such as the Compost trash suite and the DockArt iTunes plugin have received favorable coverage in magazines in North America, Europe and Asia.

What Can You Do For Me?
Just what it says above. I don't have the resources to take on anything truly massive at this time - I know my limits - but I have experience building and maintaining fairly large robust systems. At this time, I'm prepared to write new code or enhance an existing product for Mac OS X, Mac OS, Palm OS, POSIX and 32-bit Windows installations, or undertake any reasonable porting task among them. I can even arrange complete turnkey systems. You'll always get reliable time estimates and fair quotes, and I maintain strong communication to ensure that what's delivered meets a client's needs.

Not Exactly An Inspiring Page, Is It?
Well, no; really it's not. This decision came about in the first week of May, 2006, and the page came into being two days later. That's why it still says coming soon up top; I'm not technically ready to open for business yet. But in the meantime I thought it made sense to get a cursory contact page posted. Expect more in the near future.

Update (August 24, 2006): Silicon Shaman is now open for business. While all options listed above are available, at the moment I'm best prepared for development targeting Mac OS X. Early feedback has been encouraging.
